Couple's Fertility Check Up

If you are experiencing problems falling pregnant, you should seek an assessment by our panel fertility specialist together.

Female Fertility Tests

The common tests and scans that our panel fertility specialists will perform to investigate the possible causes of female infertility.

After an initial consultation with your fertility specialist, the next step will be to undergo some female infertility tests to check for the more common fertility issues we see.  These include:

  • Problems with ovulation, including Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

  • Tubal disease

  • Endometriosis - chocolate cyst

Some of the tests you may need to take include:

Ovulation test – a simple blood test to check you are producing an egg each month

  • Ultrasound scan – to check for conditions such as fibroids or cysts, endometrial polyps, and to look for issues such as PCOS

  • Ovarian reserve (i.e. AMH test) – this blood test measures the level of your AMH hormone, which can help us estimate how many eggs you still have

In some cases, additional tests may be necessary including:

  • Hysterosalpingography – to look at the patency of your fallopian tubes and uterus

  • Diagnostic laparoscopy – usually performed under anesthesia, it allows a closer look at your ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, and pelvic cavity.

During your first consultation with your fertility specialist, he/she will explain the recommended procedure(s) given your situation. By understanding what may be creating difficulties for you in conceiving, he/she can then determine the best treatment to give you the greatest chance of having a baby.

Male Fertility Tests

Understand the importance of a Semen Analysis (SA) and other tests, including Sperm DNA Fragmentation Assay, in determining the possible causes of male infertility.

Fertility Surgery

Find out how laparoscopy, tubal surgery, and microsurgery can treat causes of infertility in women, and common fertility surgery for men including TESA/MESA.

Ovulation Induction (OI)

Ovulation induction (OI) can be used as a simpler approach to fertility treatment, which stimulates ovulation through medication and is monitored with follicular study ( ultrasound )

Artificial Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) involves inserting prepared semen into the neck of the womb to maximize your chance of conceiving naturally.
